6.0 Advanced Haircutting

This course will teach you the techniques needed to take the Classic Haircuts and create a new and more modern look. It is recommended that before taking this course you complete Haircutting Classics first. You will be introduced to Razor cutting, Texturizing techniques, Thinning shear techniques, and Clipper cutting techniques. These techniques are used everyday in successful salons and in most haircuts. Without a good foundation in which to build upon you will never be able to create the new, modern looks of today.

6.1 Holding the Razor

To properly create a razor haircut you must first know how to properly hold a razor.  This lesson shows you the acceptable ways of holding various razors.

6.2 Arching with Razor Solid

Aching with a Razor is a technique that can be used to create all of the three ways of cutting hair: One Length, Graduated, and Layered forms which are the basis of all Haircuts.  This lesson will teach you the arching technique to create Solid (One Length) formed haircuts.

6.3 Arching with Razor Graduated

6.4 Arching with Razor Layered

6.5 Razor Slithering

This lesson is a razor technique that is used to create the structure of a haircut.  All principles of haircutting apply the only difference is that you are utilizing a razor instead of a scissor to remove the hair. In this technique you will be cutting the section of hair being held in you fingers by cutting with the razor from the side of the section or from the top of the section.  By learning and practicing this technique you will improve you ability to offer your clients a razor cut.

6.6 Razor Etching

This lesson is a razor technique that is used to create the structure of a haircut.  All principles of haircutting apply the only difference is that you are utilizing a razor instead of a scissor to remove the hair. In this technique you will be cutting the section of hair being held in you fingers by cutting with the razor from top to bottom or from side to side.  By learning and practicing this technique you will improve you ability to offer your clients a razor cut.

6.7 Thinning Shears

This lesson is designed to make the stylist proficient in using the thinning shears also known as blending shears.  The techniques will assist you from blending lines in a haircut to overall removal of bulk as well as root/mid length and end tapering.  Many times the thinning shears are used in coordination with scissor/clipper over comb techniques.

6.8 Texturizing Techniques

Texturizing techniques are used in haircutting to take the structure of a haircut and create a personalized look for the individual.  Although some of the techniques you will learn in this lesson can be used to create the structure of the haircut most of the techniques you will see are utilized after the after the structure of the haircut is complete.

6.9 Scissor Over Comb

This lesson is designed to teach you the art of Scissor over Comb.  Unlike clipper cutting this technique creates a much softer look.  With practice and the right scissor stroke you will be able to enhance you short haircutting skills.

6.10 Razor Rotation

This lesson is designed to show a technique that will give you the ability to soften the surface appearance of a haircut.  This technique is also used in haircutting for overall blending, removal of overall weight and blending of a weight line in a haircut.

6.11 Clipper Over Comb

This lesson shows the technique of Clipper over Comb.  By practicing this technique will give you the ability to cut short men's haircuts and improve your barbering abilities.

6.12 Edging and Sideburn Shaping

This lesson shows the techniques in using a edging clipper to clean up and shape the edges of men's short haircuts as well as the different designs for sideburns for men.

6.13 Fade Haircut

This lesson shows the procedures and clipper technique of cutting a Fade Haircut. Knowing how to blend the weight line determines the success of this haircut.
