About Us
Hudson Valley Boudoir Photography is an award-winning luxury boudoir studio located in Newburgh, New York — just north of New York City where the Hudson River meets the sky. Founded and operated by photographer Erin Braden, we have built a reputation as the Hudson Valley’s premier destination for women who are ready to see themselves differently.
Every single session begins with professional hair and makeup — and that means the artist behind the chair is just as important as the photographer behind the camera. We are looking for someone who understands that.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will be the first person our clients interact with when they walk through the studio door. Your energy, your talent, and your warmth set the tone for the entire experience. You are not just doing hair and makeup — you are helping a woman feel safe, seen, and stunning before she ever steps in front of the camera.
The majority of our sessions — approximately 95% — require both full hair styling and makeup application. Glam looks are our most popular request and our clients love a full beat, beautiful lashes, and polished waves or curls that hold up beautifully under studio lighting throughout the entire session.
What We’re Looking For
The essentials:
Professional experience in both hair styling and makeup artistry
Exceptional skill in glam and editorial makeup looks
Experience working with all skin tones and skin types
Ability to create flawless, seamless skin that photographs beautifully under studio lighting
Strong knowledge of lash application
Warm, professional, and calming presence — our clients are sometimes nervous and your energy matters enormously
Reliable, punctual, and passionate about your craft
A genuine love for empowering women
Bonus points for:
SFX makeup experience — we run specialty Halloween sessions in September / October and clients go absolutely wild for them
Experience working on photo shoots, fashion shows, or editorial productions
Knowledge of makeup that photographs well under artificial studio lighting
An eye for trends and a commitment to continuing education in your craft
What a Typical Session Looks Like
You will arrive at our private Newburgh studio ahead of the client’s scheduled session time. Most sessions include full glam — hair and makeup — completed before the photography begins. Our clients come in with inspiration images, mood boards, and ideas, and your job is to bring their vision to life while adding your own expert touch.
Sessions are booked on a per-client basis. You will work one on one with each client in a warm, private, beautifully designed studio space with stunning Hudson River views. The vibe is always positive, empowering, and a lot of fun.
Compensation
Makeup Application — $125 per session
Hair Styling — $75 per session
Hair & Makeup Together — $200 per session
Since approximately 95% of our bookings include both hair and makeup, most sessions pay $200. This is per-client, per-session compensation paid promptly after each appointment.
This is a freelance/independent contractor position. You set your availability and we book with you accordingly.
